A&A 316 INC, CSP for Fedex Ground. Hampton, Virginia

Thank you for your interest regarding our Driver Positions. Please take 15 minutes to read the following information, as it explains the preliminary requirements for employment.

Preliminary Requirements

We use a third party company to screen all applicants to make sure you pass the standards Fedex has set. They will be looking at the following information:

1. Must be 21 or older.
2. Must be able to lift 150lbs with the assistance of a dolly/handtruck.
3. Previous driving employment. One years worth in the past three years going back from the date of application.*
4. Clean driving record, this goes back three to seven years.**
5. Must have an active Drivers License. You cannot drive with a suspended license.
6. Preferably a clean criminal history.**
7. Must be able to pass an initial drug screen, as well as randoms while employed. Note: If you are on any medication that is considered an opioid or narcotic it will be flagged as ineligible for hire. This will apply to the use of Marijuana. Legal as it may be in the state of Virginia for those over 21, Fedex has decided that it will result as being ineligible for hire and be a cause of termination if you fail a random.

*Note: Previous driving employment means you worked for a company operating either a vehicle they owned such as catering vans or landscaping trucks, delivery services using your own personal vehicle for places like Pizza Hut or providing services like lyft and uber.

**Note: If you do have a charge on your driving record or criminal background it does not automatically disqualify you. Some minor offenses can be overlooked. Often the only way we find out is to fill out the application, and see what their verdict is. There is a hotline if you wish to contest their verdict, for example if a charge had been dropped, or there was an expungement from your record. So if you want to proceed to the application process and try, we can. Just know if they disqualify you, I have no control over it.

Location and Service Area

We operate out of the Hampton terminal at 61 Floyd Thompson Blvd, our primary service area is Portsmouth. This involves a 15 to 20 minute drive from the terminal to our service area depending on route location. So every morning you would report to the Terminal in Hampton before setting out to complete your route in Portsmouth and then return the truck to the terminal.

Job Expectations

To give our Team the best chance to succeed everyday we follow simple rules and or regulations. The following is an abbreviated list to give you an idea.

• Drivers must report to the terminal by 7:30am but no later than 9:30am.
• Drivers will be assigned routes based on nightly projections, and are responsible for sorting, loading, and delivering their route. Note: Some routes are pre-loaded, however it is the drivers responsibility to ensure it is loaded to their preference.
• Drivers are responsible for the equipment in their truck. These include their scanner, scanner charger, handtruck, and tape gun.
• Drivers are expected to dispatch in uniform and sensible shoes.
• Drivers must do a pre and post trip inspection of the truck they will be using, and are required to report anything wrong with the trucks or equipment to Management immediately.
• Drivers must carry on their person copies of their Drivers license, DOT card, and employee Badge on them at all times.
• Drivers are expected to adhere to all safety regulations and will attend regular safety meetings held by Management.
• Drivers are expected to rotate weekend shifts so that everyone may have a chance to enjoy them off.

Again this is an abbreviated list. We do give each employee training to cover the job expectations.

Training

Training takes between two to three weeks depending on the individual. During training you will train with both other drivers and members of management so that you can be evaluated on your progress. Examples of training are as follows:

• How to operate the scanner.
• Learn various routes.
• How to load your truck properly. Think, Tetris.
• How to properly use door tags, codes, and service crosses.
• Handle Pick-ups and call tags.
• Difference between residential and business deliveries.
• How to safely operate and drive our trucks.

Interviews are held at 61 Floyd Thompson Blvd, Hampton 23666. Park in one of the two paking lots available, call my number to say you are here, and then meet me at the turnstile so I can escort you in the building.

Applications are filled out at the terminal on a computer so please be sure to have all your information on hand. You will need to bring your:

• Drivers License
• Social Security card, or Birth Certificate
• DOT card (If you do not have this, that's fine for now.)

If for any reason you cannot make it to your specified interview, and would like to reschedule just let me know and I shall try to work with you as best as my schedule allows. On average the interview and application process takes just a little over an hour.
